To Whom It May Concern:
Some of my best memories from PA school are of Tuesdays, when “drug reps” would present their wares and tell their tales. It was so intriguing to go head to head and debate the difference between a “sulfa allergy” and a “sulfonamide chain.” I could have even named some of the members of the Norwegian study, or the Nurses’ study depending on which particular topic had been discussed the evening before. I’d always leave with something new but, most of all, little by little I became more knowledgeable of the new medications available. You can’t even imagine how excited I was to be able, as a student none-the-less, to be the first provider in the Internal Medicine Department to use a certain medication as a migraine abortive therapy…and it worked. WOW!!! However, those days are gone. Now I work in a tiny, time-forsaken clinic where I can barely get aspirin, much less be on the cutting edge of the pharmaceutical frontiers. I’ve descended into the pharmaceutical Black-Hole of the United States Army in Europe.
This is where you can help. The Society of European Physician Assistants (SEPA) will be presenting a continuing medical education conference from 15 – 18 February 2002 in Pommersfelden, Germany. Participation normally consists of 60 – 70 PA’s from all over Europe. The conference is taught by physicians on topics such as: neurology, sports and orthopedic injuries, tropical/zoonotic diseases, dermatology, STD’s, and nutrition.
We are currently seeking medical resources, however big or small, to aid us in our quest. Since my Father-in-law manages a Mini-storage, I know there are literally tons of medical materials, texts, and “what-nots” that end up being “donated” to whomever or whatever is nearest at the time in order to make room for more stuff. Well, keep us in mind. You can’t even imagine the great service you would be doing by putting a stamp on it and sending it to SEPA. Suitable material is also needed to award as raffle prizes to help finance the conference.
We cordially invite your Pharmaceutical company to join us and present your products. A limited number of display tables with 220v access will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. We are also willing to display any information you might wish to send in exchange for an educational grant you deem appropriate. An additional option is to send promotional material for inclusion in registration packets. We’ll do the stuffing.
Checks should be made out to SEPA. Our tax identification number is 98-0067581. Anything that you can provide is greatly appreciated. For any questions, comments, or arrangements please feel free to contact me directly at: bighamrpac@hotmail.com. We also have a webpage, please visit: https://europeanpa.tripod.com/. We look forward to hearing from you soon, and thank you for your interest in the PA profession.
Sincerely,
RONNY P. BIGHAM
